Spy Wednesday Taize ServiceWEDNESDAY APRIL 17, 7:00 PM, SANCTUARY
We will have a special Taizé service during Holy Week following the story in Matthew 26.1-36 as Jesus disciples question his priorities, plot against him, deny him, and ultimately, in the person of the "spy" Judas Iscariot, betray him. In this time, we will provide space to practice silent reflection, confession, prayer, meditating on Scripture, and worship in a contemplative style in order to help us consider how we have participated in similar types of rejections of Jesus, whether externally or in our own hearts. |
Good Friday - A night of doubt and darkness
Friday, April 19 | Part I: 6:00-6:45pm; Part II: 7:00-8:00pm | Sanctuary
As we consider the death of Jesus from the perspective of his followers, we will use this opportunity to express our own doubts as well as grief as we contemplate the cross.
PART I: This will be a time where we will be exploring the doubt that Jesus' followers may have experienced on the night of his death through contemplating aspects of our own doubts or fears. We will have a few artists from the church share songs that express these same struggles and will have a time where participants can write down their own struggles with doubt or questions to be read aloud.
PART II: The second movement will follow the story of Jesus as he goes to the cross, is killed, and buried in the grave, using the traditional Tenebrae service where we see the light of the world being put out.
You are welcome to join us for both or either of these times based on how you want to spend this holy night in reflection.
